About Our Club

Hello Dolly April Show 2016

The Rhythm Tappers Club was organized in 1980 to give Sun City West Residents the opportunity to share with us the joy of performance, fitness, friendships and fun. During its heyday in the ’90s, the Rhythm Tappers had more than 200 members. Former Rockettes, Broadway dancers and members from Australia and England have been a part of the club, which has performed in Europe and Asia. We are a club of young-at-heart 55 and older who have been entertaining audiences for more than 35 years and regularly participate in cultural events, festivals, parades and competitions.

Achievements:

In 1999, the Rhythm Tappers happened to be in the right place at the right time, competing in California. An agent was looking for extras that could dance in the movie “Mystery Men” an American superhero comedy film. The scene we performed in was the “Old Peoples Home”. Dancing were Kate Adams, Shirley Bowden, Helen Etting, Lu Gay, Val Gitter, Mae Greenstein, Elane Innes, Irene Kamsler, Miriam R. Lawless, Teresa Maclean, Joanne McDermott and Crystal Gaer White.

In 2007 the producer of “The Savages” an American drama film, contacted us with the Rhythm Tappers being featured in the opening scene.

From 1990 thru 2001 we traveled internationally but unfortunately our traveling came to and end after September 11, 2001.

The Rhythm Tappers performed for more than 18 years as  part of the variety shows in the Sundome.

The highest achievements for us is the applause of our audience and their words of appreciation. This is what motivates us and makes our commitment and love for performing stronger.
